Throughout the year Pinto Ranch hosts Rios of Mercedes Boots Trunk Shows at all store locations. During a trunk show customers get the opportunity to meet the owners, browse the newest styles from Rios or choose from unique leather hides and skins to create a one-of-a-kind pair of special order cowboy boots.
Rios of Mercedes Handmade Boots has a rich tradition tracing its roots back to 1853 when the Rios family founded the company. In the early 1900’s the family moved the shop from Mexico to the Texas Rio Grande Valley, where they continued perfecting the craft of bootmaking. When the last member of the Rios family retired in the 1960’s, the business was sold to its current owners.
Today Rios of Mercedes is still family-owned and operated, under the stewardship of Trainor Evans, Pat Moody, and Ryan Vaughn. Rios is proud to employ talented craftsman who continue the tradition of fine bootmaking by applying attention to detail that can only come from many years of experience. As generous supporters and sponsors of the NRHA, NCHA, and The National Reined Cow Horse Association, Rios is proud to be known as the cowboy’s boot. All boots are still handmade in the South Texas town of Mercedes.
To find the perfect fit you should always start with your shoe size. In any handmade boot your heel should slip about a quarter of an inch, and your toe should be in the center of the toe box. Our boot experts are always on hand at all Pinto Ranch locations to help you find the perfect fit, or call us toll-free at 800-393-8001 with any questions.
